Water Jet Cutting

The Water jet Cutting provides many unique capabilities and advantages. The Water jet Cutting process is recognized as one of the most versatile process in the world. No noxious gases or liquids are used in water jet cutting, and water jets do not create hazardous materials or vapours.

Water jets remove material without heat; in this cold cutting process the supersonic water stream performs an erosion process to grind away small grains of material. After this water jet stream has been created, abrasive can be added to the stream to increase the cutting power of the process by many times.

When water is pressurized up to 4000 BAR and forced though a tiny opening, it can cut a variety of soft material. (A can of soft drink is pressurised to roughly 3 BAR) When small amounts of abrasive particles such as garnet are mixed into the jet stream the results are “abrasive water jet” this can cut most hard material such as metal, composites, stone and glass.
